At Ifield Golf & Country Club on Thursday 2 Mary we played “The Alternate Benny O’Shea Golf Classic”. We were not blessed with our usual stunning day but at least it did not rain. Most players expressed their pleasure in the company whilst they played and enjoyed the gathering with our non-playing benefactors. It was great to see so many new and old friends having such a good time while supporting a worthwhile cause.
We congratulate our Trophy winner Tudor Williams and Peter Evans & Andrew Laird the runners up. Michael Frisby is congratulated for the longest drive & John Dunlevy for nearest the pin. Our special congratulations go To Evelyn Rock & Judy McMahon for playing in such a cold wind. It is great to have ladies playing in our events.
We are very pleased to inform you that with the raffle and donations from both those who attended and those unable to be with us on the day who nevertheless sent cash or cheques, that we are able to present £1,200 to the Timios Trust. As always you have been wonderfully generous and our thanks go out to you. We were able to inform David & Helen Skipp, the founders of the Trust, of the sum raised and they expressed their delight at such a figure which they will make sure is well used.
Peter Frisby and Manus McDermott will be presenting the cheque to David & Helen in the near future when imminent holidays are over. We will post a photograph of the presentation.
The next item in the golfing diary is ”The Foley Niblick” which will be played at Rookwood Golf Course on Thursday 15th September.
