Circle Meeting - 28 August 2014

We've never featured an ordinary monthly meeting in the blog, but as this is the backbone of Catenian life on which all else hangs, I though it was time we did. After the meeting Tobias Melia gave a talk on the work of HCPT The Pilgrimage Trust, which is our President's Charity this year.

Loxwood Boat Trip (Wey & Arun Canal) - 10 August 2014

Our trip today was on the 27-seater canal boat Zachariah Keppel, courtesy of the Wey & Arun Canal Trust. It was preceded by lunch at the Onslow Arms, Loxwood, which is right next to the canal and the embarkation point.

Although it poured with rain during lunch, the weather was perfect for the boat trip which lasted a bit over 2 ½ hours.

One of the four-man crew of the boat (all enthusiastic amateurs) was Robin Charles, Treasurer of St John's Horsham.

Province 18 came together for the annual Mass for Vocations. Many thanks to the Worth Abbey congregation for allowing us to share in their Sunday morning Mass. We were told that our presence had improved the singing!

The Alternate Benny O'Shea Golf Classic - Presentation

Manus McDermott and Peter Frisby presented a cheque for £640 to Fr.Patrick McCallion, the Director of Promotions of the St.Patrick’s Missionary Society, when they met him at East Molesey on Tuesday 1st July. This was the sum of money raised at the recent Alternate Benny O’Shea Golf Classic day at Ifield golf course. The total amount will be forwarded to the All Faiths Group working in the Bauchi area of Nigeria. You will know from the reports in the various media sources recently that this is an area in great need of help.

As the name suggests this is a group of missionary’s from all faiths, Christian and Others working together under the leadership of Fr. Leo Traynor from the St. Patrick’s Missionary Society. By sending the money this way we ensure there are no charges or commission to pay and that they get the full amount.
